Overexploitation of Resources

Overexploitation of the natural resources in an ecosystem is incredibly harmful for the organisms living there. When the lands lose resources faster than they can be replenished, serious damage is done to the ecosystems.

Forms of Destruction.

Overhunting

The hunting and killing of animals for sport, fun or profit faster than nature is to make more.

Deforestation

The removal of trees in an area for land or lumber

Overgrazing

When livestock graze on grass and eat more than nature is able to produce.

Example of Overhunting

Global

As time passes some animals die out to make room for new animals, that is a path in nature. However, humans are deciding to disrupt that balance and over hunt some beautiful creatures, for sport or fun. Lions, tigers, and rhinos are all a victim of over hunting.

Example of Deforestation

North America

Humans exploit the need for trees. Most of us are clearing the trees and the natural environment of the earth to build things such as commercial businesses, houses, and even office workspaces. Another main cause of deforestation is the paper companies, who cut down multiple trees a year, to make paper. Doing this, we are starting to lose parts of our environment, and the oxygen the trees provide us.

Example of Overgrazing

North America

Like wolves in the past, some other types of animals have learned to coexist with groups of people too. For example, tribes of nomadic herders and cattle lived alongside Altai argali and Saiga antelope. Unfortunately, the overgrazing caused by the livestock resulted in complication for the antelope and are at risk.
